10 Outdoor Bar Ideas

Spending time outdoors in the summer is an awesome way to get some sunlight, enjoy the company of your friends and family, and enjoy your backyard. After all, you don’t need to spend every night away from home if you have your own luxury outdoor bar!

Serve your guests specialty cocktails from your unique backyard bar while enjoying your enchanting patio or an evening around the fit pit.

Need some inspiration? Outdoor Innovations has put together some ideas for your new backyard bar!

1. Tiki Bar

Tiki bars are a classic for a reason. They evoke feelings of tropical weather, fruity frozen drinks, and sandy beaches. If you need an escape, consider building a tiki bar in your backyard.

Use bamboo and thatch materials for a tropical vibe, and add tiki torches (which can double as mosquito repellants) and string lights to set the mood. You can even go the extra mile and serve up your drinks in tiki mugs or coconut shells!

2. Pallet Bar

Reclaimed wood is all the rage these days. From old barn wood to used pallets, you can get a rustic look from just about any wood that has outlived its original use. Pallet bars are budget-friendly, and you can stain or paint the wood to match your outdoor aesthetic for a fresh take on eco-conscious design.

3. Outdoor Kitchen Bar

We love this idea! Bring your kitchen outside with your own outdoor kitchen with a bar included! No one has to toil away inside preparing food while everyone else hangs out outside. You can cook right in the middle of the action while serving up your favorite drinks. This can include a built-in grill, countertops, and storage cabinets to keep all the essentials.

4. Bohemian Style Bar

Bohemian bars are a whimsical way to incorporate several styles, colors, and patterns into an outdoor bar. Mix and match your furniture, hang string lights, and use vibrant tapestries for a cool, boho feel. You can also include patterned rugs and cushions for comfort and warmth.

5. Poolside Bar

If you already have a swimming pool or plan on building one, include a poolside bar in your design! If you’re looking at a custom luxury pool, you can include a bar built right into the pool itself (think swim-up bar) or right beside the pool for easy access. You can include stools in the pool so swimmers don’t have to get out of the water to enjoy another drink.

6. Industrial Chic Bar

Industrial chic is a great way to use reclaimed wood and metal to create a swanky bar. You can incorporate metal bar stools, pendant lights, and sleek, modern furniture to give your bar that industrial feel.

7. Nautical Bar

Minnesota doesn’t have the nickname “Land of 10,000 Lakes” for nothing! If you live near a lake, or even if you don’t, you can create a fun, nautical-themed bar to bring the lake shores home to you.

Use maritime colors like white, navy blue, and red, and include rope accents and boat cleats. Adding other nautical decors, like a ship wheel or lifebuoys, can round out the look.

8. Stone and Brick Bar

Looking for something sturdy and resilient for all your pool parties? Use outdoor hardscaping ideas to create a stone and brick bar. This style can blend seamlessly with the rest of your backyard and even match your home.

Add in a pizza oven or grill to complete the dining experience. Include comfortable furniture with weather-resistant cushions, and your backyard will be set to impress and hold up under any extreme fun and weather conditions!

9. Garden Bar

Prefer the color green? If you want a garden getaway backyard, include a bar to match! Incorporate the bar into your backyard by bringing in plants, and use natural elements like wood and stone.

Wicker seating and glass accents can bring home the look, while plants and flowers shower the area with green and other bright, vibrant colors.

10. Fire Pit Bar

Fire pits are great additions to a backyard bar because they can be used for many months out of the year. Build a bar around your fire pit or outdoor fireplace to keep warm when the weather cools down. Use fire-resistant materials, of course, and include comfortable seating and blankets to stay cozy.
